Drawing on a highly successful career in the US Army, Colonel Ciro Stefano serves as the Senior Advisor for the New York Army National Guard. Over the course of his distinguished military career, Ciro Stefano has received multiple prestigious awards, including the MacArthur Leadership Award bestowed by the General Douglas MacArthur Foundation.
Since 1962, the MacArthur Foundation has celebrated the life and achievements of Army General Douglas MacArthur, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Introduced in 1982, The MacArthur Leadership Award recognizes company grade officers displaying characteristics upheld by the late general, such as respect for duty and country.
In order to be considered for the award, eligible officers must be nominated by their commands. Then, each candidate must write a personal essay on leadership, and present themself before the US Army Forces Command board. Candidates must also do well on the Army fitness test. Winners receive their awards at an annual ceremony hosted in Washington D.C.
